Children's Memorial Auditory-Verbal Summer Program

Audience: Professionals - Audiology,Professionals - Education and Therapy
Event Type: Seminar
Description: The Children’s Memorial AVT Summer Program is modeled after several successful programs designed to provide an in depth experience including a mentored therapy experience. It begins with a four-day symposium (Aug 2-5) with lectures covering the Development of an Auditory Function/Auditory-Verbal Techniques Module from the AVT, Inc Standardized Curriculum, as well as lesson-planning strategies. Clinical case studies of implanted children will also be provided including the use of music therapy. The symposium is followed by a six-day mentored practicum (Aug 6, 9-13) during which participants will have a hands-on therapy experience with coaching from senior therapists, as well as lectures on special topics. Participation in the symposium is required to participate in the practicum. This program will also assist professionals interested in acquiring the knowledge and experience necessary to obtain the Listening and Spoken Language Specialist (LSLS) certification that is overseen by the Alexander Graham Bell Academy for Listening and Spoken Language. Modern, affordable accommodations for as little as $300 per week are available for those attending these programs. Scholarships in the amount of $350 are also available for those registering for both the Symposium & Practicum (preference for those who live or provide services in Illinois).
