With powerful state-of-the-art technology, recipients of the Advanced Bionics cochlear implant have been upgraded from conventional sound processing to HiResolution Sound—without a new implant. Only the HiRes 90K Implant provides

Advanced Bionics cochlear implants have an unmatched track record of upgradeability and increasing performance capability. Unlike the HiRes 90K Implant, other cochlear implant internal capabilities can’t be significantly upgraded. They are restricted to only one current source with significantly slower stimulating rates (maximum of only 30,000 pps) and fewer spectral bands (only a maximum of 22).
To illustrate, these conventional cochlear implant systems are like a computer purchased 10 years ago—they can’t be upgraded to run today’s advanced software applications.
