How Hearing Works with a Headpiece
Once sound waves have been gathered by a microphone and converted into detailed digital information by the sound processor, the cochlear implant system sends that information to the implant. The headpiece acts as the bridge between the external and internal components. Held securely in place on the side of the head with a magnet, the headpiece transmits the digital information from the sound processor via radio waves to the implant, where it’s converted into electrical signals interpreted as sound by the brain.
