This year at BCIG 2023, we are extremely proud to be celebrating 30 Years of Powerful Connections. In 1993, a physicist, inventor, serial entrepreneur, and philanthropist named Alfred Mann founded Advanced Bionics on the outskirts of Los Angeles, California. Since then, AB has created new opportunities for individuals with hearing loss - allowing them to form powerful connections and to live a life without limitations thanks to cochlear implants.

Join us in our tech suite and help us celebrate our 30 year anniversary!

Our Commitment to Sustainability

At Sonova and Advanced Bionics, we are committed to creating sustainable value for all our stakeholders: we continuously innovate to provide the best solutions for our customers. We enable access to hearing care for millions of people with hearing loss, invest in the development of our employees and partners, and apply eco-efficient practices across all our business activities.

We are focusing on becoming more environmentally friendly and reducing our environmental impact, at conferences. You'll see, we're doing this in a number of ways at this year's BCIG 2023 conference including:

- Sustainable event stand solutions  - we're showcasing this year in a way that's making an impact but also a difference. Our cardboard event stand is made from corrugated cardboard and utilises reusable materials. It's durable and reusable as well as creating a memorable space. We have also decided to go paperless and all our resources are available to download below.

- Supporting small, local businesses - as BCIG 2023 is hosted in Cambridge, we have opted to support a local, well-established and iconic bakery, Fitzbillies; renowned for their Chelsea buns. The bakery was founded in 1920 by Ernest and Arthur Mason. They were the sons of local bread maker `Ticker', and they specialised in fancy cakes, including Chelsea buns.

- Eco-friendly giveaways - we've sourced some great, reusable merchandise including a Boc`n'Roll sandwich wrap that delivers zero waste and a great alternative to disposable plastic, foil or cling film. Manufactured from durable and washable fabric, these are stain-resistant, waterproof, airtight and practical. To see how to use the sandwich wrap, watch this YouTube video. You'll also receive a canvas reusable shopper bag along with a notebook and pen made from a range of eco materials including recycled kraft paper and bamboo.

Surgeons have no objective means of monitoring the function of the cochlea during electrode insertion. The AIM™ system can help. It uses the implant to measure electrocochleography (or ECochG)  potentials generated by the inner ear and the auditory nerve in response to acoustic stimuli. This continuous and real-time measurement during electrode insertion can provide invaluable feedback to the surgeon.

The HiRes Ultra 3D cochlear implant

The first-of-its-kind HiRes™ Ultra 3D Cochlear Implant’s innovative multi-magnet assembly provides alignment to a 3D MRI field, allowing adult and paediatric users to safely undergo high-resolution imaging, such as 3.0 Tesla MRIs, without any preparation, surgery or head bandaging.

The two-ear solution designed to work together

Most cochlear implant wearers choose to a have only one cochlear implant despite having severe or profound hearing loss in both ears. The other un-implanted ear requires a super-powered hearing solution that works in harmony with the cochlear implant. This is known as bimodal hearing, and scientific evidence shows that combining a hearing aid with a cochlear implant results in significantly higher speech understanding and sound quality than provided by the cochlear implant or a hearing aid alone.10

Marvel technology has now been extended to these bimodal-hearing patients with the introduction of Phonak Naída and Sky Link Marvel. The Naída or Sky Link Marvel can be worn together as hearing aids or be paired with an Advanced Bionics Naída or Sky CI Marvel sound processor. Because they are both based on Marvel technology, the cochlear implant sound processor and hearing aid are wirelessly connected and communicate with each other in a coordinated, dynamic way. Like its cochlear implant counterpart, Naída and Sky Link Marvel also features RogerDirect™, hands-free calls with own voice-pickup, and directly connects to iOS, Android or other Bluetooth-enabled devices.

Target CI fitting software

Target CI offers hearing care professionals easier CI fittings with the industry-standard Noahlink Wireless, giving them and their patients the freedom and convenience of cable-free programming. For the first time ever, professionals can program a cochlear implant and the associated bimodal hearing aid with one software in one fitting session. Its intuitive workflow, and user-centric design and features are made for faster fittings, allowing professionals to spend more time with their patients, rather than the software. Target CI is also designed to be a smarter fitting tool, with default settings optimised for cochlear implant patients, giving professionals the flexibility to meet their patient-specific needs.
