The Choice for More Natural Hearing

AB is the only cochlear implant manufacturer that offers a microphone placed optimally at the opening of the ear. The patented T-MicTM Microphone takes advantage of the outer ear’s natural sound-collecting abilities to gather life’s vivid sounds. The result: focused, effortless listening.

“The T-Mic earhook is excellent! I hear very well with it and using the phone is just plain fun. I like being able to hold the phone just like normal-hearing people - on my ear.”

Evelyn Gardner, implanted at age 63, bilaterally implanted at age 64

Hear More of Your World

The T-Mic’s placement at the opening of your or your child’s ear offers an array of hearing advantages. With this patented feature only offered by AB, you or your child can enjoy more natural hearing as well as wireless connectivity!

T-Mic Features

  • Help for Hearing in Noise - The T-Mic is designed to help you or your child hear better in common noisy environments, such as classrooms, restaurants, and sporting events.
  • Phone Calls are Easier - The T-Mic’s optimal placement allows you to use your phone and popular hands-free headsets, just like your normal-hearing peers.
  • Enjoy Wireless Connectivity - Go wireless and use earbuds, headphones, and other popular battery-powered audio devices.
  • Little Ones Hear Big Too - Providing the same advantages as its standard counterpart, the small T-Mic earhook is moldable for a custom fit on smaller ears.

Real Science Proves the T-Mic Advantage

Studies have shown that the T-Mic is the only in-the-ear microphone that provides improved hearing in noisy environments and better localization of sounds so that you can hear your world.1–4

Hear Your Best in Noisy Surroundings

Hearing in noise is a common challenge for everyone, but AB makes it easier for those with severe-to-profound hearing loss to hear speech and all its nuances, such as tone and inflection, at dinner parties, weddings, and networking events. With AB’s T-Mic, you don’t have to struggle to keep up with conversations held in noisy settings.

Independent research showed that all recipients understood more sentences in noise with Harmony’s unique T-Mic than with a behind-the-ear (BTE) microphone.1

The data below shows individual sentence reception thresholds (SRTs) for 11 Harmony recipients using the BTE microphone and AB’s T-Mic. A lower SRT is better and means that the listeners can hear the same sentences in the presence of more noise. Scores with the T-Mic were better for all subjects.

T-Coil vs. T-Mic

The built-in T-coil picks up sound if you have a compatible telephone, neckloop, or other accessory. The T-Mic Microphone, only from AB, lets you enjoy effortless hearing by providing wireless connectivity as well as the ability to use the same program for everyday listening and telephone use with no switching or additional accessories required.

T-Mic Compatibility

The T-Mic Microphone is compatible with the Harmony and Auria processors and is available in small and standard sizes.

AB Makes Connectivity Easy

In addition to the T-Mic, which is ideal for wireless connectivity in everyday listening situations, AB offers the following accessories that make it easy to enjoy consumer electronics and assistive listening devices.

  • iConnect – A cable-free connection for the most commonly used FM systems in schools.
  • Direct Connect – Connects directly to electronic and audio devices via a 3.5 mm stereo jack and audio cable.
  • Standard Earhook – The standard earhook is available to hold the processor on your ear if you utilize the built-in processor microphone.
  • T-Coil – Provides wireless connectivity to inductive-loop systems and phones.
