The Naída CI Integro and HiRes Ultra 3D implant Work Together to Help You Hear Your Best

diagram how a ci works

The (1) microphones on the (2) sound processor pick up sounds around you. These sounds are turned into digital signals that are sent to the (3) headpiece. The headpiece sends the signals to the (4) HiRes Ultra 3D implanted under the skin. The (5) electrode array stimulates your hearing nerve. The hearing nerve send the signals to the brain, allowing you to hear your world.

Is a Cochlear Implant Right for You?

If you're struggling to hear sounds and conversations around you even with hearing aids, you're not alone. Many adults experience age-related or progressive hearing loss that makes everyday conversations exhausting.

Cochlear implants for adults are a good solution for those who:

  • Struggle to follow conversations in noisy environments
  • Feel worn out from listening throughout the day
  • Rely heavily on lip reading or captions
  • Have limited benefit from hearing aids

Integro CI is the new hearing solution from AB which offers important features not available in any other CI system. For example, It is the only CI technology proven to help you know exactly where sounds come from, helping you stay safe. It is also the only CI solution with advanced Phonak hearing technology to help you hear well even in the most challenging situations. In fact, Integro CI has more technology to improve hearing than any other cochlear implant brand.

Yes. Advanced Bionics technology is designed to help you hear voices clearly in loud environments. By adjusting automatically to the noise level around you, your sound processor will help quiet background noise and make it easier to understand voices and pitch.

A cochlear implant (CI) is considered the next step in hearing technology when hearing aids are no longer providing the sound or support someone needs. Hearing aids go on the outside of the body and work like a speaker, making sound louder. A cochlear implant processor looks a lot like a hearing aid. It connects to a cochlear implant, which goes under the skin, and sends sound directly to your hearing nerve for clearer understanding. Cochlear implants go under the skin and send sound waves directly to your hearing nerve for clearer understanding.

The implant procedure only takes a few hours, and most patients will go home after the surgery the same day, or the very next day. You’ll start hearing with your cochlear implant after your audiologist switches it on—usually two to four weeks after surgery. You’ll hear sounds right away, but your brain needs time to adjust, just like getting used to new glasses. Understanding speech and the sounds around you will usually improve gradually over the next few months, with most people noticing progress in about three months.
