That’s why every element of our cochlear implant system—from the precision-engineered HiRes™ Ultra 3D internal electrode array to the intelligent chip inside the Marvel CI sound processor—is built to deliver superior hearing outcomes. AB’s internal implant is designed for your patients to live a life without limitations.

Current steering

16 individual current sources allow for precise pitch perception and speech understanding¹.

MRI-compatible

No need for surgical removal during scans.

Upgradeability

The HiRes Ultra 3D is designed for ultimate flexibility to be ready for the future. There have been 4 generations of sound processor upgrades since 2001 without the need for additional surgery.

This means your patients benefit from today’s innovations—and tomorrow’s.

Current Steering for Music

AB’s implant features 16 independent current sources, enabling precise control over how stimulation is delivered. This innovation—known as current steering—allows us to shape stimulation across electrodes, enhancing pitch perception and speech clarity1.

Current steering also powers SPAN, a programming capability that maintains pitch perception even when an electrode is disabled, ensuring flexible and effective mapping.

Worry-Free MRI

Advanced Bionics’ HiRes Ultra 3D cochlear implant is engineered for simplicity and peace of mind during MRI procedures. Unlike other systems, it requires no special head positioning or compression wraps—giving your patients one less thing to worry about2.

We rigorously test our internal devices beyond industry standards, including up to 200 MRI3 exposures with no impact on performance. That’s the kind of reliability your patients can trust—today and for years to come.

Internal Upgradeability

At AB, we design implants to support lifelong hearing success. Since 2001, our internal devices have been built for upgradeability—allowing recipients to access new innovations like ClearVoice, current steering, and HiRes Optima through software updates to their external processors, all performed in your clinic. At AB we don’t just promise innovation, we have proven we are focused on innovation for your patients.
